After some interesting turns and twists in the tapestry we call life I have arrived in the big city of Toronto and settled into a lovely 3 story walk-up just off of Queen Street. It takes about an hour to get to the college but I enjoy using the public transit system and it allows me time to catch up on reading or to socialize with other classmates who commute.
Isis, the queen of the household, has made the transition smoothly and has settled into this new home quite well. She desperately wants to be outside and I have to keep her on her leash otherwise she may wander off and get into trouble with the raccoons or street cats! The daily antics between her and Ben, the other cat, and Mia Bear, the chow are highly entertaining.
So now for the question many of you have been wondering about - How's school going?
I LOVE SCHOOL!
It's going very well and while the course load is intense, it's mostly review for me. The challenge I'll face is staying organized and on top of readings and assignments. That being said the professors are excellent and it's wonderful to be surrounded by like minded individuals. Spirituality is a large part of the education at the school within the context of what we call the "Vis Medicatrix Naturae". That spiritual aspect that runs through everything and is everything - basically the healing power of nature. For me learning about this is like teaching the obvious but for many in the class it's a struggle to understand and conceptualize. Many students are coming from a strict science background and mindset and so they are struggling with some of the more conceptual and abstract aspects of our education. It's fascinating to watch and I'm very excited to see minds and hearts and spirits being connected and opened simultaneously. I plan on posting tidbits about health and wellness as I learn them so stay tuned for some interesting posts ahead!
Spiritually I'm adjusting as well. I still struggle a bit with being surrounded and in such close contact with so much energy on a daily basis but I smudge and do my cleansing rituals in order to stay grounded. It's hard to see the homeless people sleeping in the park or on the cement sidewalk everyday as I take the trolley to the subway station and am constantly sending love and gratitude outwards everywhere I go.
One person can make a difference, one thought can change a universe.
There are sights to see, things to learn and creatures to love....
All My Relations,
Mandy
